The main areas of work have been on the engine room door seals πŸ”§ and painting 🎨.

We have completed the refurbishment of 2 of the engine room door seals βœ… and are well on the way to finishing the other two. The previous seals were rubber and over the last 79 years the rubber had deteriorated, and the steel strips holding it had rusted. It’s taken a great deal of work πŸ› οΈ cleaning off the rust, drilling out bolts, re-tapping threads, and making new steel fixing strips.

Other major work has been the varnishing of the wheelhouse πŸšͺ. It was previously protected with an oil stain, but this had not been satisfactory, so it has been painstakingly sanded off ✨ and the wood varnished several times. It’s now looking great πŸ‘ and should last a few years.

We seem to have a few more volunteers πŸ™Œ who are willing to do painting. Items on the upper fore deck have been painted and it is planned to paint the decking soon. Lots of other painting has been done around the ship πŸ›³οΈ and we have just replenished our paint stocks πŸͺ£.
