The Steamship Freshspring Trust is delighted to announce that it has received £20,000 in funding thanks to the support of Postcode Lottery players.

The funding will support the ongoing preservation, development and community engagement work taking place aboard SS Freshspring, the last surviving Fresh-class water carrier built for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary.

SS Freshspring has become an important educational and community resource in North Devon, welcoming visitors of all ages and providing opportunities to explore maritime history, engineering, STEM subjects and local heritage.

This award will help the Trust preserve an important part of Britain's maritime and engineering heritage while expanding opportunities for education, volunteering and community engagement.

John Puddy, Chair of the Steamship Freshspring Trust, said:

"We are extremely grateful to Postcode Lottery players for making this funding possible. Their support enables us to continue preserving SS Freshspring for future generations while developing opportunities for education, volunteering and community engagement."

The Trust would also like to thank its volunteers, members and supporters, whose continued commitment helps sustain the project and share SS Freshspring with the wider community.
