Freshspring receives her wheelhouse

On Monday 16th April 2018 many months of work, as part of a project supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund, Bideford Bridge Trust, Torridge District Council, Headly Trust and Balsdon Trust, saw SS Freshspring receive her timber wheelhouse. The wheelhouse still requires final fitting and fitting out, but vastly improves the looks of the ship once again…

Freshspring under tow, 1974

We are fortunate enough to have recently been sent a couple of pictures of Freshspring under tow from John Beardsley, but these are from 1974. Original oil lamp returns and more for the archives

We are very fortunate too have recently made contact with Mr Fox of Bristol, whose brother purchased Freshspring with Mr Burgess in 1979. He has enabled us to reunite one of the original lamps with the ship, along with a number of plans and documents we had not seen before. With the reasonably dry weather we have been having over the past few days, volunteers on board have been able to make some good progress with painting on the out side of Freshspring. Bideford to Instow and Appledore delivery of Freshspring Steam Beer

This Sunday, 18th June, will see a special delivery of Freshspring Steam Beer, produced by Clearwater brewery, Bideford.
